I have a installation of Piwik with over 10,000 websites being tracked and 80,000 pageviews daily (combined).

I find it rather unusual that all the visits from Search Engines are being counted as from External Websites. I searched the Tickets and did not find any related bugs. I have attached a screenshot.

I have also created a view-only account in case anyone wants to see it live:

URL: http://www.mywapblog.com/analytics/
Username: test
Password: testtest

There are some reasons google may (correctly) appear in list of external websites:

  • People using iGoogle might put a link to your website (or an rss widget and so on) on their dashboard
  • Google reader also might link to your website if you offer an rss feed

Both examples are Google services that aren't part of their search engine, but still run on the same domain.

arvind: can you email your phpinfo() output to us at hello@piwik.org? The problem appears to be in the behaviour of your php's built-in parse_url() function.

Sure!

I have sent you the output.

Closing per arvind's email -- he accidentally broke PiwikTracker.php. Happens to the best of us... ;)
