Increasing priority + widening scope. Everything that would make user support & debug easier is a must have!

About GD/TTF detection

  • When showing warning, when GD is installed, but TTF is not, the message must be clarified, a few users reported lacking information that TTF must be installed as the message only mentions GD (example). this can be easily fixed by modifying message.
  • We should also explain in the message that GD is now used for Graphs generation in Scheduled reports and Piwik Mobile. So, now GD is more useful than before (sparklines only), which again shows the importance of having GD enabled and working.

(In [6035]) Clean up system check screen. We get many new users that are not technical at all, good to make it as clear as we can.
Thanks @vipsoft for your previous work a few months ago on this screen!

  • put error/warning styles to messages to raise up awareness and encourage them to fix all warnings.
  • Added message to restart webserver after making changes to php.ini.
  • Refactored CSS in install.css
  • Adding Next step at the top of the screen when all is green (avoid scrolling down)

  • IMPORTANT: From #3605 we should add a system check that tells the user whether LOAD DATAINFILE is enabled on the server. Indeed it is an important system to ensure that one can run a high traffic piwik server efficiently: bulk loading provides a significant time improvement in archive.php To do so, call the function: tableInsertBatch($tableName, $fields, $values)

with very few test data, and insert in the Piwik_Option table the static content.

Test the return value, if true then it worked, if false there is a problem with LOAD DATA INFILE. Solution: upgrade php, upgrade mysql, if using Ubuntu configure apparmor..
