The WAG team suggested some more config changes, including that we document that Piwik crashes/freezes IE6. (They also noticed #2163.)

jQuery actively supports these browsers:

* Firefox 2.0+
* Internet Explorer 6+
* Safari 3+
* Opera 10.6+
* Chrome 8+

and CSS3PIE targets IE6-8.

Is Piwik really crashing IE6? No one ever complained about this, great..... a new world has come :)

my personal opinion

  • piwik.js should work in IE6 and all other browsers still used by more than 0.1% of users
  • for the Piwik UI, we should only support modern browsers, IE7+, FF2+, etc.

I haven't tested the UI on IE6 in a while, so I'm just repeating their feedback. I'll take a quick look at it this weekend.

Don't worry about this, nobody ever complained about ie6, no webmaster is using it, so no Piwik user :)

ok. (Curious why they bothered testing with IE6.)

Any opposition to adding the ie6countdown banner to the installer's welcome screen, login or topbar? And signing up as a supporter?

Sounds like a easy solution, good idea :)

(In [4077]) fixes #2176 - add banner to installation and login template; (didn't add it to topbar as it messed up the layout in ie6...which btw looks fugly)

does "if lt IE8" not match IE7?

(In [4086]) refs #2176 - I copied their banner code ... sneaky attempt to encourage ie7 users to upgrade too
