When entering a password for SMTP, when you click save, it only saves the first character (and it doesn't put it in quotes in the config file). So therefore, login via the smtp server fails.
So in the config file for password is would show this: password = character of your password
So I had to go in and manually add the quotes and inside the quotes enter my password.

Already fixed in trunk , wait a few hours for next beta #2464
