In the "list of keywords" box, the "Keyword not defined" string for search engines that hide the keyword should be presented with a different format, in order to distinguish it from true search keywords.

Proposal

  • Display in light grey font the "Keyword not defined" label, in the Referers>Keywords report.
  • Also display in light grey the 'keyword not defined' in the real time visitor widget
  • Remove the "Keyword not defined" from the tag cloud
  • Remove "keyword not defined" from being listed as a "Top converting keyword" in the Goals>Overview or Goals>GoalN report. Sometimes the "Top 3 keywords" list "Keyword not defined" which is not useful.

That makes sense indeed!

Also, "Keyword not defined" should link to the Keyword not defined FAQ in the email reports.

Also in the Goals reports > Conversion by keyword.

Could we remove it all together from the table? Or maybe display it in the footer?
It feels frustrating to see "Keyword not defined" every time, plus it does not actually add much value.

It looks like a good idea!

Also, it should be excluded from the tag cloud as per user request

from #3075
"Visitors in real time" report. > It would be better that it links to the actual search url, and the "Keyword not defined" words link to the faq

From email "- get rid of "keyword not found" in the real time visitor statistics just leave it blank instead please. i have read this sentence thousands of times iz a waste of time with no valuable information"

=> Maybe we should display in light grey to minimize overhead, while sill explaining the situation at all times... ? thoughts anyone please comment!

Those searchs are part of the search pool; though, it doesn't make sense to present them as a separate search term, because actually they gather many search terms.

I'd count them among the "other", at the bottom: maybe a row "others search termes", gathering known searches, and another row "others (keyword not defined)"

I think that "Keyword not defined" should be removed from the top of the Keyword widget: actually it gathers many keywords, so it makes no sense to treat it as a separate keyword

Good news: you can now use our new Search Engine Keywords Performance plugin which lets you import your Google, Bing and Yahoo keywords into your Piwik. Learn more about the reports provided and how to import keywords on the plugin page and in the Search Keywords Monitor User Guide.
