Microsoft has pulled Piwik from the Web App Gallery. The Web Matrix deployment script uses a regex to get the database password. However, it's unable to parse the right "password" field in config.ini.php because the "[superuser]" section appears first. As a result, they can't deploy Piwik automatically.

Options:

  • quick fix: change the order of sections, moving the superuser section after database
  • longer term fix? remove the superuser section (i.e., move it into the users table)

I made a bunch of changes in r6106 at their request. But they pulled Piwik on 6/1 thereabouts, even though 1.7.1 was in their review queue. Anyways, I submitted 1.8.2, and after a couple of weeks, they identified the actual problem.
