If browser archiving is disabled, if you request period=range Piwik will return the sum of pre-archived data to build this date range.

If the pre-archived data is not available, period=range might return zeros, or only some of the data that was processed.

Proposal:

  • when period=range, and browser archiving enabled, force archiving of the required data of all required days (and/or weeks or months) to build this date range
  • but only request the data for the Plugin that is being queried. This is similar behavior to "Segmentation" queries which only process the required plugin's data and not all data. Eg. period=range&module=Actions.getPageUrls will only force processing of Actions plugin in all days not yet pre-processed.
