Google chrome is marking our latest.zip as a Virus. Nobody replies at Google... so our only solution is to change our URL. I propose builds.piwik.org/piwik-latest.zip

Needs to be changed in:

  • website
  • software
  • build script
  • and setup redirect from latest.zip to piwik-latest.zip

Hopefully this will fix the issue.

Maybe this would be a good time to add an API endpoint that returns the download URL and hash ?

I consider that google assumes complete piwik project as virus :-)

It's getting out of control how many people have reported this issue. I can't imagine how many users have not tried Piwik because they couldn't download the file...

let's change the name and hopefully, this wont be blocked on window + chrome anymore!

the build script now creates the symlink to latest piwik stable at: http://builds.piwik.org/piwik-latest.zip

(the old URL http://builds.piwik.org/latest.zip still works)

It was not enough, Chrome still flagging piwik-latest as virus/malware. Let's change the URL to builds.piwik.org/piwik.zip which apparently works!

Considering ownership of Chrome this is expected behavior.

Apparently PIWIK is too good to be overlooked!
PIWIK team really rocks ! Good work, just keep going on!
